Hi guys,

Welcome to a slightly belated O Red this week. I have had a really good couple of days, though I have a major issue with my wisdom teeth which will need fixing asap.

I have two bits of good news:
1) I have start my new blog called Random Acts - http://rejs7.com/randomacts.html - which is going to be a place for me to expand all my creative juices, and highlight cool arty type things.

Four weeks in Thailand

I am currenlty in Thailand recovering from my gender reassignment surgery, and the last few weeks have been spent sorting stuff out for the trip. Hi guys,

Welcome to week 55 of O Red - and quite frankly all I can say is that normal service is here by resumed (yay). After 6 weeks of frustration with libsyn I am now able to get the show back on the road, and here on out hopefully there will be a show every Friday on the dot.

Wow! 50 mixes. What a journey over the last year and a quarter. Hopefully the quality of my mixes has got better, and I will continue to try new tricks and new tracks in the next 50 shows.

I must say that those of you have stuck with the show since the beginning have given me inspiration, and the weekly download figures are amazing considering that I don't plug the show that much. For anyone listening to the mix for the first time I hope this is the first of many, and if you have any suggestions please leave a message on the forum.

This week's mix is a monster 4 hour's in length, and is probably my most taxing to date. It is full of my favourite tracks, and each and every one has a memory of the last year attached to it. My tack of the week is Sonrisaby Jonas Steur, though that said virtually every track in this mix would make track of the week if it was in a different mix :).

Hi guys welcome to week 49 of O Red. This week I have been mostly working my ass off trying to get loads done at work, and I am also busy working on my novel.

This week's mix is a deeper mix than the last one, and is full of funky tunes. My track of the week is a superb mash-up called "Waiting for New Year's Day" by Phil n' Dog (Aka Act of Dog). It is a reminder that not all mash ups are cheesy and tacky.

Hi Guys,

welcome to week 47 of O Red. This week I have mainly been cooking, role playing, and generally being creative. Work has been great, though I feel utterly shattered at the moment.

I am please to announce the launch of a new O Red competition - this prize will be a pair of tickets to a new years event of your choice (as long as it can be booked on line). Hi guys,

Welcome to the After Hours mix. This is the end of summer mix, and is chilled to keep the atmosphere relaxed. My tack of the week is Psycho   by Perfecto Allstarz - it's a great track, and has stuck in my head since I put the mix together.

I had a great time at Manchester Pride yesterday, and gold stars go to DJ Tiny & DJ who did ace sets in the women's space. If you get the chance to got to pride next year, and your a woman, it's well worth checking out.

Ored Week 41 - Open Road

Hi guys and welcome to the 41st O Red pod cast. This week has been good for me, and work has been straightforward as usual.

Unfortunately due to no-one entering a mix in time I have decided to cancel the contest, but instead I am going to offer a new contest for the O Red 1st anniversary - the prize will any CD of your choice from Play.com, and all you have to do is answer this simple question: What was the first track ever played on O RED? (hint: it is one of my favourites of all time).

In the mean time I am pleased to announce that as of the week of the 28th July the show will be going to 2 hours in length, an extension from the current hour long shows I have presently been doing. I have decided to do this partly in response to the growing audience the show is attracting, and also partly because I now have more confidence with my style.

This weeks mix would probably fall under my journey mixes label, and is a hybrid of house and trance. My track of the week is "Should Have Known" by Cosmic Gate feat. Tiff Lacey - I have been humming this song all week, nuff said :)

O Red Week 35 - Ghosts

Hi guys, and welcome to week 35 of O Red. This week I wanted to reflect on some of the great tracks that I have played over the last 8 months, and throw in a couple of new ones for good measure.

I also want to make a request to all bedroom producers out there - if you have a trance or deep house track that you would like plugging then please send me a link, or post it on the forum. I spend a lot of time tracking new music down to play on the show, and providing it passes my seal of approval then I am more than happy to drop it in the mix. A good example of this is the Aquila track (which I got of http://www.download.com) - I love unsigned tracks, so please feel free to ask for a plug.

This brings me onto the contest - if you wish to enter a mix of you own tracks then please do (One artist, yourself). It would be a great way of plugging yourself to a wider audience, as well as possibly winning the prize.

O Red week 34 - Stripped

Hi guys,

Welcome to week 34 of O Red. The last fortnight has been a bit hectic due to work and other things, so I apologise for the late posting of the show. In the mean time I want to say thanks to everyone who has provided comments on the contest, and I want to clarify a few things here:

What does one mean?
Well it can mean one style, one genre, one theme, one artist - whatever you choose - the only condition is that it fits in with the flowing style that is the O Red podcast.

What is Libsyn?
Libsyn is hosting site dedicated to audio files - it allows you to share programs and shows, and it could give you a break into music if you plug it.

Hints & tips:
1 - be creative and be consistent
2 - listening to your mix a couple of time, and get others to access it as well, before you submit it.
3 - use the theme as a guide, rather than a hindrance.

O Red Week 3 - cusp of summer

Hi guys, and welcome to week 33 of O Red.

This entry is a little late due to my birthday over the weekend, so I hope you have plenty of time to enjoy it, hehe.

I have decided to scrap the Orizan Scholarship contest, and replace it with a new mix contest for any DJ.

The prizes:
1 Year subscription to Libsyn
1 Year plug on the O Red homepage
1 airing of your winning mix on the O Red birthday show in July 2007
1 pair of tickets to a new years eve event of your choice (paid for online, and upto the value of $40)

The rules are simple:
1) Create a mix based around the theme of One. Take this as an open invite to be creative and mix any genre, style, and sound.
2) Closing date 30 June 2007
3) 1 entry per person
4) All entries must be submitted by a link to a valid online file which has been submitted after 24.04.07. Either post the link through a comment on the O Red homepage, Orizan forum, or email Rachel
5) Any genre is allowed, but please bear in mind the flow of the O Red podcast when putting the mix together.
6) It should be no more than 60minutes in length.

Hi guys, and welcome to week 30 of O Red. This week has been really cool, and saw another night of Limited Addiction at Kennedy's in York.

It was a great night, and all the DJ's were ace as ever.

This week's mix is another free form from me, and is more eclectic than previous weeks. I just wanted to let the mix flow, and enjoy myself. My track of the week is White by Smith & Pledger - I dare you not to love this tune.

Hi guys,

welcome to week 29 of O Red. This week has been great for me as I have just got a permanent position at my work, so I have no longer got to worry about funds.
I also have the pleasure to announce the Orizan Scholarship contest 2007 - see http://rejs7.deviantart.com for more details. This contest aims to find artist which Orizan can help develop over the next year, and it is open to photographers, traditional artists, CGI creators, and DJ's. The winner of the DJ category will receive a load of publicity on this site, plus get their mix on the air as part of the 1st anniversary show.

This week's mix is made up of top tracks from the here and now, sprinkled with a few classic anthems.

Hi guys,

Welcome to another week of O Red. The last week has gone really quick, and because I have an interview for my job on Monday I wanted to chill out and do a mix which is funky and cool. This week's mix is an homage to Tiesto, similar to my Prod redux and Madge World mixes. I really like Tiesto's music, and I have tried to blend a broad selection of his tracks. This week's track of the week is Just be - the antillas club mix. This song sticks in my mind every time I hear it, and I think it is sublime.

Hi guys and welcome to the 26th week of O Red - officially our half year mark. This week's mix is something a little special - a two decade celebration of all things Prodigy. I love this group, and I got into them when I was still in School in 1996. My favourite albumn is Jilted Generation, which I think is a fab blend of dance and punk.

Hi guys and welcome to my valentine day mix, which also showcases my favourite tracks of 2006, with a dash of of nostalgia thrown in. This mix has all my favourite tracks of last year in, and is my favourite mix to date. I have only used Mixmeister 6 for this mix, as I feel it sounds polished enough. My track of the week is Someday (Instrumental Mix) Whiteroom feat. Amy Cooper. It is a fantastic tune, and I can't stop playing it. Hi guys,

This is the 24th O Red podcast, and technically our 6 month anniversary. Over the last 6 months I have enjoyed bringing you my favourite tracks from the world of dance, and hopefully I will be able to continue to bring you more great music over the next 6 months as well.

This weeks mix has been done on Mixmeister fusion, and I am not too happy with the results. I would really appreciate some feedback on it, as I may ditch it altogether if I can't get it to work as well as Mixmeister 6. Please can you leave any comments here or on the forum -

I also want to announce a competition for our 1st year anniversary in July. I am going to be running a mix contest, which will have some really cool prizes, and more information will be posted in two weeks time.

I also want to give a shout out to Phil (aka Jaxx) as he has been unwell recently - hope you're back to your usual self asap.

O Red Week 21 - New Year's special

Hi guys, and welcome to 2007! This week's mix has been three weeks in the brewing, and the reason why it has been delayed has been due to me being away in Kent, and a serious NYE party at club Egg in London, which was fabulous.

I had an awesome time on NYE, and I must give a major gold star, or 5, to the promoters who pulled off a wonderful evening. Getting back to York on the 9am train was weary, but I would certainly do it again.

This week's mix is a 2 hour special celebrating 2006, and highlighting tracks which I have discovered, rediscovered, and hope you all have enjoyed over the last 5 months of the show being on air. My track of the week is Ghost by The Tenth Planet - this is a little nugget which caught me by surprise, and I love it.

As far as 2007 is planned I hope to take the show forward with a few new ideas. Amongst which will be a 2007 awards cast showcasing the best tracks of 2006 (at the end of January), a download.com special mix highlighting new talent from around the world (hopefully in February), another 'Memories' special featuring tracks from yesteryear, and in June a massive 1st anniversary show with (hopefully) a few mystery guests.

Hi guys, and welcome to a belated waeek 20 of O Red. The reason why I have not posted a pod cast over the last two weeks is that I plan to put out a 3 hour mix next week for new year.

On the home front O Red at Cert 18 was a bit of a bomb due to the weather, but the music was still as awesome as ever. A massive shout out to Jaxx, Jerry, and Jay for DJing - I owe you guys big time. As of next month the venue is changing, though I don't where to as yet.

The mix this week is another journey mix, though it is pure trance this time. As per the last one just sit back and enjoy.

Hi guys and welcome to another great week for O Red. This week I have been putting the final touches to the posters for 3 weeks time, and being told that I have the time wrong on 45 poster and 800 flyers (poo)! Cest la vie... thanks to Taco at Cert 18 I have the chance to rectify this, but it's typically blond of me hehe.

This week's mix is pure trance from the early naughties, with a dash a 06 thrown in for good measure. I love this stuff, and every track in this mix evokes memories of uni, clubs, and a time when I was more care free. My track of the week is White Flame (Original Mix) by Modulation.
