I hope you've all had a great week and the weekend is proving to be fab. here at RA towers we are in the process of relaunching the webzine, finalising the new website, and generally gearing up for the rest of 2010. As far as O Red is concerned I am determined to keep the high quality mixes coming thick and fast, and I have a few things in the pipeline which will mean that O Red will expand quite significantly if they work out. New look

Hi guys,

As you will have undoubtedly realised I have updated the podcast to reflect a more intergrated look for all the Random Acts sites. O Red, the blog, the home page, and the webzine will now have the same styling, though each will continue to have its own feel.

The podcast has taken a bit of a back seat over the last half of 2009, though this is all changing as of last week. In the New Year there will be a return to normal service with a weekly podcast, which in turn will continue to focus on fantastic trance, deep house, and prog. Indeed I think 2010 will be the best year for O Red, and I hope to share with you some great times in the year ahead.

In the mean time I have put together the NYE 2009 mix, and all 3 hours of naughties goodness will be unleased on Thursday evening.

O Red week 119: Christmas 2009

Hi guys, This is this first podcast of the new era for O Red, and I thought it would be very fitting to release it on Christmas weekend. A lot has happened in the last three months, and suffice it to say that O Red is now back, and will be bigger and brighter than before. The main change is going to happen over the next week, when we integrate the show with the new Random Acts (RA) website. O Red is going to play an important part in shaping the way RA develops, and I think the biggest change that you will see as listeners is going to be the introduction of a sponsor in the new year. This will take a few months to develop, but if things pan out the way I intend then it will mean the show will receive a huge boost from this. In the mean time I hope you enjoy this mix, and any and all comments are welcome. Rachel

O Red : Week 111 - Star Punked

Hi guys, this week's mix is a very cool and relaxed electro, trance, and deep house mix, with a dash of funked punk thrown in for good measure. As you will probably notice from the O Red home page - http://rejs71.libsyn.com - we are currently re branding O Red to fit in with the Random Acts family, and as this process continues you will notice a lot more changes taking place, including a planned relaunch of O Red in October 2009.

One of the immediate things you will notice is that the length of the podcast will remain a constant of around 90 minutes, unless it is the New Years of anniversary mix. This means we can keep the mixes tight, and give you all an idea of what to expect from the podcast.

Another change that will become apparent over the next few weeks is the visual rebranding of O Red, which we intend to complete in the near future. This includes a weekly podcast id image, which will start from week 112, as well as new logos etc.

Finally, and this is probably the biggest change, is that we are going back to our ethos of promoting new artists, music, and DJ's. As many of you who have been with us for the last three years know we began as a podcast with a drive to get the new and innovative out there, and somewhere along the line that changed. Not for the worse, but things changed. Now it is time to get back to those roots, and as part of the Random Acts family our ethos will shift back to the new and fresh. Ultimately we want the podcast to continue as a source of great music, and at no point will we compromise that.

Dear listeners,

Prepare for the most fantabulous, funktastic, and generally awesome 3 hours of trance, deep house, and bass shredding music. Okay, enough of the hyperbole, but seriously this mix is chock full of my favourite tracks from the last 2.5 years of O Red.

Where has the last 2.5 years gone? I can't believe how quick it has grown, and by a quirk of fate we have also had our 100,000th download in the last two weeks, which I think it fantastic.

Okay, so what makes this mix so special for me? Well if I had to choose tracks for my wedding, funeral etc currently I would choose tracks from this mix. It has pounded my speakers for the last two days, and I can honestly say that it will be getting played more and more. I can also confirm that O Red's official anthem is Everything Continues by Monotape, as it sums up my attitude towards life.

In the mean time I hope everyone from Cape Town to Connaught, Dheli to North Dakota, and everywhere in between enjoys this mix, and heres to another 100 mixes.

Hi guys,

just wanted to share a few thoughts I have have had about O Red. I have regularly review the stats for the O Red home page, and one thing I am amazed with is the sheer diversity of the listeners I have attracted. The show has a global reach, and this week alone I have had visitors from the USA, Iran, Japan, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Finland to name a few. It is awe inspiring to think that my little pod cast can reach such a wide audience, and it just goes to show the breath of the dance community. Who says trance is dead?

My other realisation is how close to 100 shows we are getting. It may not seem like much, but for me this is a true milestone. I am usually terrible at following through with things, and O Red has helped me focus when life has go tough. Aside from my time in Thailand I have always tried to get a show out every week, and hopefully this will mean that the 100th show will fall some time in February. I know that what keeps me going in the down loaders and web listeners, and every time I get feedback I know that I am on the right track.

Thank you all for sharing this journey thus far with me, and long may our diverse community grow in both body and spirit.

Hi guys,

Well it's come around so quickly, and firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has listened to the show in the last 12 months. At the last count O Red has a monthly download rate of over 4000, which is absolutely fantastic.

I must give a big thanks to everyone who downloads this through RSS, I-Tunes, and the forums on a regular basis. All the feed back I have got it gratefully received, and if you have any comments about the show please leave a comment.

I must admit that there have been times when the podcast has had to take a back seat, and other times when I wish I could have made it bigger, but overall the state of the nation is a good one for me.

One thing that I am glad of is the expansion of genres within the show. I now have a repertoire of chill, house, breaks, old skool, trance, and psy, and over the next year I may add another genre into the mix.

This week's mix is a four hour special blending all the genres which I have used in the last year, and contains many of my favourite chill, dance, and old skool tunes. It is eclectic, broad, and has something for everyone.

Hi guys,

Welcome to week 55 of O Red - and quite frankly all I can say is that normal service is here by resumed (yay). After 6 weeks of frustration with libsyn I am now able to get the show back on the road, and here on out hopefully there will be a show every Friday on the dot.

Welcome to week 52 of O Red. Due to issues with Libsyn I may be forced to either cut the mixes back down to 1 hour shows or do a fortnightly one. Hopefully this problems will be resolved before next week.

Wow! 50 mixes. What a journey over the last year and a quarter. Hopefully the quality of my mixes has got better, and I will continue to try new tricks and new tracks in the next 50 shows.

I must say that those of you have stuck with the show since the beginning have given me inspiration, and the weekly download figures are amazing considering that I don't plug the show that much. For anyone listening to the mix for the first time I hope this is the first of many, and if you have any suggestions please leave a message on the forum.

This week's mix is a monster 4 hour's in length, and is probably my most taxing to date. It is full of my favourite tracks, and each and every one has a memory of the last year attached to it. My tack of the week is Sonrisaby Jonas Steur, though that said virtually every track in this mix would make track of the week if it was in a different mix :).

Hi guys welcome to week 49 of O Red. This week I have been mostly working my ass off trying to get loads done at work, and I am also busy working on my novel.

This week's mix is a deeper mix than the last one, and is full of funky tunes. My track of the week is a superb mash-up called "Waiting for New Year's Day" by Phil n' Dog (Aka Act of Dog). It is a reminder that not all mash ups are cheesy and tacky.

Ored Week 41 - Open Road

Hi guys and welcome to the 41st O Red pod cast. This week has been good for me, and work has been straightforward as usual.

Unfortunately due to no-one entering a mix in time I have decided to cancel the contest, but instead I am going to offer a new contest for the O Red 1st anniversary - the prize will any CD of your choice from Play.com, and all you have to do is answer this simple question: What was the first track ever played on O RED? (hint: it is one of my favourites of all time).

In the mean time I am pleased to announce that as of the week of the 28th July the show will be going to 2 hours in length, an extension from the current hour long shows I have presently been doing. I have decided to do this partly in response to the growing audience the show is attracting, and also partly because I now have more confidence with my style.

This weeks mix would probably fall under my journey mixes label, and is a hybrid of house and trance. My track of the week is "Should Have Known" by Cosmic Gate feat. Tiff Lacey - I have been humming this song all week, nuff said :)

O Red Week 38 - These are the days

welcome to week 37 of O Red. This week has been really busy for me, and I am still making plans for the first birthday celebrations across the website. Work has been quite chilled this week, and hopefully I will be able to make a start on the birthday mix in the up coming mix.

O Red Week 35 - Ghosts

Hi guys, and welcome to week 35 of O Red. This week I wanted to reflect on some of the great tracks that I have played over the last 8 months, and throw in a couple of new ones for good measure.

I also want to make a request to all bedroom producers out there - if you have a trance or deep house track that you would like plugging then please send me a link, or post it on the forum. I spend a lot of time tracking new music down to play on the show, and providing it passes my seal of approval then I am more than happy to drop it in the mix. A good example of this is the Aquila track (which I got of http://www.download.com) - I love unsigned tracks, so please feel free to ask for a plug.

This brings me onto the contest - if you wish to enter a mix of you own tracks then please do (One artist, yourself). It would be a great way of plugging yourself to a wider audience, as well as possibly winning the prize.

Hi guys,

Welcome to week 34 of O Red. The last fortnight has been a bit hectic due to work and other things, so I apologise for the late posting of the show. In the mean time I want to say thanks to everyone who has provided comments on the contest, and I want to clarify a few things here:

What does one mean?
Well it can mean one style, one genre, one theme, one artist - whatever you choose - the only condition is that it fits in with the flowing style that is the O Red podcast.

What is Libsyn?
Libsyn is hosting site dedicated to audio files - it allows you to share programs and shows, and it could give you a break into music if you plug it.

Hints & tips:
1 - be creative and be consistent
2 - listening to your mix a couple of time, and get others to access it as well, before you submit it.
3 - use the theme as a guide, rather than a hindrance.

O Red Week 3 - cusp of summer

Hi guys, and welcome to week 33 of O Red.

This entry is a little late due to my birthday over the weekend, so I hope you have plenty of time to enjoy it, hehe.

I have decided to scrap the Orizan Scholarship contest, and replace it with a new mix contest for any DJ.

The prizes:
1 Year subscription to Libsyn
1 Year plug on the O Red homepage
1 airing of your winning mix on the O Red birthday show in July 2007
1 pair of tickets to a new years eve event of your choice (paid for online, and upto the value of $40)

The rules are simple:
1) Create a mix based around the theme of One. Take this as an open invite to be creative and mix any genre, style, and sound.
2) Closing date 30 June 2007
3) 1 entry per person
4) All entries must be submitted by a link to a valid online file which has been submitted after 24.04.07. Either post the link through a comment on the O Red homepage, Orizan forum, or email Rachel
5) Any genre is allowed, but please bear in mind the flow of the O Red podcast when putting the mix together.
6) It should be no more than 60minutes in length.

I love this group, and I got into them when I was still in School in 1996. My favourite albumn is Jilted Generation, which I think is a fab blend of dance and punk.

This is the 24th O Red podcast, and technically our 6 month anniversary. Over the last 6 months I have enjoyed bringing you my favourite tracks from the world of dance, and hopefully I will be able to continue to bring you more great music over the next 6 months as well.

This weeks mix has been done on Mixmeister fusion, and I am not too happy with the results. I would really appreciate some feedback on it, as I may ditch it altogether if I can't get it to work as well as Mixmeister 6. Please can you leave any comments here or on the forum -

O Red Week 21 - New Year's special

Hi guys, and welcome to 2007! This week's mix has been three weeks in the brewing, and the reason why it has been delayed has been due to me being away in Kent, and a serious NYE party at club Egg in London, which was fabulous.

I had an awesome time on NYE, and I must give a major gold star, or 5, to the promoters who pulled off a wonderful evening. Getting back to York on the 9am train was weary, but I would certainly do it again.

This week's mix is a 2 hour special celebrating 2006, and highlighting tracks which I have discovered, rediscovered, and hope you all have enjoyed over the last 5 months of the show being on air. My track of the week is Ghost by The Tenth Planet - this is a little nugget which caught me by surprise, and I love it.

As far as 2007 is planned I hope to take the show forward with a few new ideas. Amongst which will be a 2007 awards cast showcasing the best tracks of 2006 (at the end of January), a download.com special mix highlighting new talent from around the world (hopefully in February), another 'Memories' special featuring tracks from yesteryear, and in June a massive 1st anniversary show with (hopefully) a few mystery guests.

Hi guys and welcome to another great week for O Red. This week I have been putting the final touches to the posters for 3 weeks time, and being told that I have the time wrong on 45 poster and 800 flyers (poo)! Cest la vie... thanks to Taco at Cert 18 I have the chance to rectify this, but it's typically blond of me hehe.

This week's mix is pure trance from the early naughties, with a dash a 06 thrown in for good measure. I love this stuff, and every track in this mix evokes memories of uni, clubs, and a time when I was more care free. My track of the week is White Flame (Original Mix) by Modulation.

Hi guys, and welcome to another fab week of O Red. This week has been about work, work, work, so I have not really had time to focus on much else. I have been working on a secret project, though, for next year which should be massive if I can pull it off. I also have to anounce the next O Red night in January will be on the 5th at Cert 18, with the theme to be decided. I can guarantee it will be the best new year's hang over cure in town.

I also want to mention a few guys from work, Sahir and Elish, who have helped immencely this week. I am really greatful for their assistance and advice.

Hi guys and welcome to the 4 month aniversery of O RED! A big thank you to all of you have downloaded the cast over the last few months, and I hope you have all enjoyed what you have heard.

To mark this I have gone back to the roots of the podcast and blended together some tub thumping, bass bin wrecking, monster tunes which all kick the bass into overdrive. It is a juxtaposition to my 4am mix, as this one is a true 2am main room affair.

O Red - week 15 - sounscape

He guys and welcome to week 15 of O red, and the launch of the O Red club night. Last night was fun, though only about 25 people came through the doors. I must extend a big thank you to all the DJ's who turned up, all their sets were awesome despite equipment problems which will be rectified at the next event. All said and done I am glad that last night went ahead, depite the problems, and I hope the next one will be the bomb. More about that event next week.

This week's podcast is an eccective mix of house, funk, and old skool tracks. None get over 130bpm, and I realy like the way it builds up. My track of the week is Same Man (Extended Vocal Mix) by Till West & DJ Delicious, it has bounce and certainly sticks in my mind.

O Red week 11 - Memories

Hi guys and welcome to another week of O Red. This weeks mix is the usual trance blended with some cool old school classics. Indeed my track of the week is Jericho by the Prodigym, an anthem of the era that brought me to music. I have also used a lot of Tiesto in this mix, so train spotters get ready!

From this week onwards I have upgraded the track quality to 96kps so the track will be a bit bigger on the bandwidth from now on. I have done this in order to enable live streaming of all mixes from now on.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the peeps at House music links (http://housemusiclinks.com) who have listened to all the recent mixes in the last week, and have pushed the download requests to a massive 440 for one week.
I am really greatful for all the continuing support of all of you who download the cast on a regular basis, and I hope that the audience will continue to grow over the next few months.

As of this week I am going to push the forum more heavily. The forum link for O Red is http://rejs7.proboards85.com/index.cgi?board=ored and it contains all the boards for the mixes. I feel that it is important to have feedback on the music I am using, and the style I am using, so it would be appreciated if you could take time to have a look :) .

Finally in the next week I will be able to announce the line up for the first night of O Red on 2nd November. It will be a DJ compitition with a 1/3 of the profits going to Save the Children.

Hi guys and welcome to another week of O Red. This weeks mix is a blend of trance and deep house from all over the world. I have put some Dutch, Iranian, Syrian, Iraqui and British music in the mix, and hopefully you will enjoy the fresh beats served up.

Hi guys, and welcome to a special O Red mix. As mentioned on last weeks cast I have done a trip hop/breaks/hip hop mix which I hope you all will enjoy and like. Pending a contract being signed with OneNumberOne (http://www.onenumberone.co.uk/) who have agreed to sponsor O Red's events advertising. This means in a few weeks time their logo will appear on all O Red material, pages, and a jingle will be placed within the pod cast to promote them. Hi guys and welcome to another weekly podcast. This one is a bit one eclectic than my previous two, and I hope you enjoy the range of songs within the mix. I have put some deep house, trance, and a tinge of cheese in this one, and I hope they all have you smiling at your head phones.

After a long hyatus this is the first weekly podcast from Orizan Music care of our O Red label. It is a fusion of deep house, trance, and funky tunes that will set your computer, ipod and stereo rocking.
